Snyder and Kate Van Oosten and supported in part by the Asian American Network of Indiana, the Council on Asian American Studies, Color Tech and Mr. Corey Linkel.

Thirty black and white portraits equal much thought and discussion in William L. Snyder and Kate Van Oosten's new art exhibition.

Snyder, who was stationed near Seoul, South Korea, while in the U.S. Army, shot the pictures digitally in a Purdue University studio. Van Oosten, an Asian American Studies graduate instructor at Purdue and an Asian American originally from Colorado, was inspired to create the project after a chance encounter with one of her Asian American students who was originally from California.

"He said that there were no Asian Americans here," Van Oosten said. "But go get coffee, go shopping, get your hair done and you'd be blind not to see them. They're everywhere around here."

Yes! There are Asian Americans all over!

commUNITY: Asian Americans in Greater Lafayette" is made up of 30 faces -- some familiar, some not -- of Asian Americans who reside or used to live around Greater Lafayette.
