Since I've been growing more internationally minded, I've noticed that hate, racism, and discrimination are not simply issues here locally in my city or state. It is indeed a global thing. It is my belief that hatred amongst the races and cultures is stirred up deliberately by our world leaders in every country, causing extreme anger and hatred to rise up within many unsuspecting and unaware people. This is nothing less than a horrible tragedy. What can be done?
I am not a misled man, nor am I delusional: I know that all hatred cannot be erased completely. However, I believe that there are steps that we, the willing, can take to help alleviate the severity and amount of hate, and create an environment in our spheres of influence that may give way to thought patterns and perceptions that are more conducive to understanding, acceptance, and love.
It is my hope that this discussion group recognizes and promotes one culture and one group only on this earth: the human race.
The Hate Lives On, But Can Be Changed
Fairly recently, I met an Asian lady who seemed to be, by all basic means, a very nice, sweet, gentle and loving woman who is about my age. We corresponded by email a few times and we were both really enjoying the communication. We both asked many questions about one another, our countries, our preferences, likes/dislikes, work, etc. We also discussed what we wanted for the future. This, of course, led me to discuss my plans next year to fly to Japan for a couple of months in order to study Japanese and earn college credit, in addition to paving the way for my future working in Japan.
Welcome to the Group!
Just a quick note here, first of all to say thank you for joining. The main thing that I want everyone to know is that I have decided to moderate this group, not because I am against free speech, but because I am against "hate" speech (and I don't mean that politically, it just means that I won't be able to tolerate any form of verbal abuse in this group to anyone, whether they are here or simply spoken of - like a race, for example). Basically, I will strive to keep comments relevant to the group, while at the same time mediating any apparent abuse.
