Asians are known for their thick manes of raven hair, hair loss and thinning hair affects. On a normal basis, we lose around 30-60 strands of hair, but with age, the number can double or triple. Hair loss is inevitable but there are many ways to slow the process down.
Just like you wash your face on a daily basis at least twice a day, the first step is to wash your hair twice every time - lather, rinse, repeat. The first time removes the dirt, grime and grease and the second time cleanses the scalp which, when done properly, can remove a week’s worth of product, residue, and pollution.
Our hair goes through 3 stages: The anagen phase, it grows within the bulb and produces keratin, the catagen phase when hair cells are resting, and onto the telogene phase when the hair falls out.
To determine the health of your hair visit a JF Lazartigue salon. With their new state of the art hair and scalp numeric hair analyzer, a camera takes a close up photo of your scalp, hair & roots, which will enable you to not only determine the true nature of your hair and scalp but also evaluate your own personalized product prescription.
To combat hair loss, some of the specialized products could include the intensive scalp revitalizer to strengthen your hair, revitalizing hair nutrients to feed your hair and stymulactin shampoo to revitalize your hair. Other preventative products to unclog pores include the propolis jelly to cleanse extra oil off the scalp and the massage gel for deep cleansing.
Another way to strengthen your hair comes from within. Viviscal, a leader in hair loss prevention has created a powerful vitamin formula that nourishes thinning hair and promotes existing hair growth from within. Ingredients include:
AminoMar® - The groundbreaking, clinically proven marine complex available exclusively in Viviscal supplements. Derived from key marine protein molecules combined with a blend of Horsetail (Stem) Extract and naturally occurring Silica, it provides essential nutrients needed to promote existing hair growth from within.
Biotin - Also known as Vitamin H, is a water-soluble Vitamin B complex (Vitamin B7) that helps the body metabolize carbohydrates, fats and amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein and thus essential in the formation of the hair structure.
Vitamin C - A powerful antioxidant that helps to absorb more Iron into the blood, which in turn promotes hair growth. Vitamin C in Viviscal supplements is sourced from the acerola cherry.
Iron - An essential mineral that has several important roles in the body. Iron helps to make red blood cells, which carry oxygen around to cells in the body, including hair follicles. Thinning hair can be one of the visible symptoms of anemia (Iron deficiency)

For centuries, olive oil has been considered an Italian staple ingredient that’s the basis of everything, from their cuisine to beauty regimes. Not only does it enhance the flavors of food but it can also be used to repair split ends, soften calluses as well as reduce wrinkles and fine lines. The newest company to enter the market is Madonia, a new ultra premium olive oil imported from Sicily, Italy that is made from a small family farm and a single olive grove and then blessed by the town’s local priest and exported to the USA. Madonia will only be available on line www.madoniaoli.it and in select Italian Markets in the NYC area and Little Italy.
Because Madonia is certified organic, it is pure enough to add in to your beauty treatments for skin and hair. Madonea olive oil is 100% derived from a singular region and delivered in a timely manner to the USA, while most Olive oils are made from various olive trees which results in mixed flavor and cut with cheaper oils. That's because almost all olive oil adulteration happens with the middle man - the people who buy in bulk and then sell to the big corporations, add in all kinds of fillers. If you cut out the corporation and deal directly with the small family farm then you are going to get the real deal.

For fans of the cult horror fiction series, Lovecraft, this East Village restaurant pays homage to the reclusive yet influential writer H.P. Lovecraft. Much like the author’s dark imagination the décor reflects a gothic vibe with artistic imagery and dark talismans to set the stage for the unexpected. Creative celebrity chef Chris Coleman from Bravo TV’s Chopped has created a delectable spellbounding Contemporary American menu that includes Montauk lobster tacos, seafood bouillabase, and a pistachio crusted walleye.

Every summer, one of the highlights of the end of summer is Sir Ivan’s wild and colorful themed bash held at his castle in the Hamptons. This year his Royal Tea Dance was dubbed Castle 54, to pay tribute to the iconic New York nightclub where every night, a mixed LGBT and straight crowd danced in harmony. The castle was lit in rainbow colored LED lights for this special occasion, just like the White House did when gay marriage was made legal. To add some spice to the party guests were asked to dressed as one of the iconic Village People, military, sailor, American Indian, or a cop, and even one of the original Village People- Randy Jones came dressed to the nines.
While guests partied by the pool, Ivan made his grand debut riding a motorcycle onto the dance floor and up to the stage where he performed his new Billboard Hit, Kiss all the Bullies Goodbye to a packed house that summated the party’s theme of diversity, acceptance and love.

All that glitters is sometimes gold. AMEX celebrated their gold card in a grand way, showing us that sometimes the iconic plastic card not only can buy us fancy designer duds but can also become a designer dress, bringing conspicuous consumption to a whole new level.
Guests celebrated on Milk Studios’ penthouse rooftop to enjoy newly debuted cocktails and dishes from Gabrielle Hamilton, head chef of popular NYC restaurant, Prune. I liked her twist on the classic deviled eggs, which she spruced up with golden trout roe. Others on the scene included: Ashley Merriman of The Waverly Inn, DJ Chelsea Leyland, Rodrigo Bazan of Alexander Wang, Mazack Rassi of Milk Studios, Brandee Brown, Vashtie Kola, and Micky Boardman & Kim Hastreiter of Paper Magazine.
Another big highlight was the on-display original Alexander Wang Dress made of 500+ iconic AMEXX Gold Cards cut into small sequin like circles, which debuted at the CFDA Awards. Also on display was Lizzy Gardiner’s 1995 Academy Awards dress made from 254 AMEX gold cards.
Guests also mingled through interactive elements that brought the new dining and travel benefits of the Gold Card to life.
They enjoyed cocktails in an imagined airplane cabin, dined in a pop-up-version of Grand Central Oyster Bar, and enjoyed captivating views in a gold-tufted seating area on the breezy, outdoor terrace to enjoy the sunset over the Hudson.
